Smashbox cream eyeliner

29 Sep

I’m always buying and trying out new makeup so when I find something great I have to share it with you.  Smashbox cream liner in Caviar is one of the best eyeliners I’ve ever used because not only does it stay on a long time, but it is multi functional.  Use it with different brushes to achieve different looks.  This can be worn as a liner, over the lid for a smokey eye, and as a base for a bright color you want to really show off.  It is so easy to use and clean up.  Buy it here from Amazon.

Robert Verdi @ Saks Fifth Avenue

28 Sep
Robert Verdi, TV personality and celebrity stylist, made a public appearance last night at Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta.  I was there to ask Robert about his eyewear line.  And, let me tell you,  Verdi’ knows a thing or two about stylish eyewear.  After all his trademark is a clean shaved head clad with nothing but a pair of stylish glasses and he is reported to have over 300 pairs!  Robert said that “eyewear is a great introduction into fashion.”  He felt that because the price of handbags and shoes have gotten so out of control, he wanted to provide an affordable accessory, and an accessory that you’ll see most. He goes on to say, “When you are having lunch you are sitting and everyone can see your face, but your bag is on the floor, so people are going to see your sunglasses . . . I want everyone to have a wardrobe of eyewear. . .a bowl of sunglasses.” And that ‘bowl’ just might be possible. Robert Verdi sunglasses are all $32 and under.  His new collection, inspired by après-ski wear (think ski goggles), will debut on HSN in November.

Celebrity Stylist Robert Verdi and me.

While at the event I did find an amazing Louboutin artemis ostrich feather bag that I had to try on.  This bag is so fun, but Robert is exactly right – prices have gotten out of control!  It never hurts to play dress up however.    This bag is $2195 so I would be so much better off buying a pair of his sunglasses that everyone is going to see while this is under the table at dinner.   Hmmm,  how many pair of Robert Verdi sunglasses could I buy instead of this bag?  It would have to be a really big bowl to fit all of those glasses.

Mad for Slippers

27 Sep

What a great alternative to ballet flats.  I think slippers are classy and bring a little sophistication to any out fit where you would have other wise worn  flip flops or other flats.  I found them in all price ranges and fabrics.  This is a must have for fall.

2012 Emmys Fashion

24 Sep

Looks I loved . . .

Jessica Pare wearing Jason Wu

Lucy Liu wearing Versace

Kerry Washington wearing Vivienne Westwood

Julie Bowen wearing Monique Lhuillier – Best she’s ever looked

Hayden Panettiere wearing Marchesa

Cat Deeley wearing Tadashi Shoji

Allison Williams wearing Oscar de la Renta

Sofia Vergara wearing Zuhair Murad

Nicole Kidman wearing Antonio Berardi

January Jones wearing Zac Posen

Giuliana Rancic wearing Romona Keveza

Ginnifer Goodwin wearing Monique Lhuillier

Heidi Klum wearing Alexandre Vouthier

I can’t really say I hate any of these because I love when people try things, but you just got to have someone there to tell you no or at least tell you to have it altered.  Some of these are beautiful, but just don’t fit appropriately or are just aren’t right for their body type. So, here are the misses from last night . . .

Mayim Bialik – no shape

Michelle Dockery – I like the dress, but the fit and styling are bad

Archie Panjabi – bad prom dress

Zosia Mamet- thanks for the risk, but it didn’t work out.

Juliana Margulies – too much fabric with too much pattern, but way to go out there

Christina Hendricks – why that belt?

Lena Dunham – soooo unflattering

Shannon Woodward – No.

Ashley Judd – bad bridesmaid dress and hair.

Elisabeth Moss- too short in the front and made from bad curtains.

Anna Dello Russo video and images for H&M

21 Sep

Anna Dello Russo, the Editor at Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan, has collaborated with H&M and has even made a video about to help promote.   She is a lover and collector of couture and high-end fashion.  She has a fun unique sense of style and I was actually able to see her at the Calvin Klein Spring 2013 show in NY (I’ll send pictures soon)!   If you want to see the video- and I’m telling you that you need to see this video,  it is so amazingly bad it is awesome click this link.    She claims she is the guardian of fashion and gives you her rules stating,  “wear a coat as a dress” and “fashion is always uncomfortable. If you feel comfortable you never get the look”.  It goes on and on so please check out the video.   Look at this still from the video. I love it.

Below are some images from her collection that will  hit stores October 4th.

BB Cream?

20 Sep

All of a sudden it is everywhere. So what is BB cream? Well, it was created in the 60’s, but became very popular about 10 years ago in South Korea where porcelain skin is highly prized. Many Korean celebrities are big endorsers. Just recently BB cream has made it to the US market and it is all over the place. BB cream is short for “Blemish Balm” or “Beauty Balm” and is an all-in-one make up and skin treatment. Manufactures claim it brightens the skin, evens skin tone, smooths the texture, treats blemishes, and moisturizes while providing coverage. Wow!  That is a miracle if it does all that so I thought it might be worth trying.  Most are like a tinted moisturizer, yet I just started using Missha (Korean company-go with where it started) and it is full coverage.

Although I don’t have the experience to attest to its long term results I have been happy with the coverage of Missha. My skin looks even and natural with only using a small amount of the product.  Why not try it for yourself if you are looking for a new foundation.  If anyone has used it for a little while I would love your feedback.

Below is Missha which I am using, Dr. Jart which was one of the first South Korean companies to use BB cream, and Maybeline which can be found about everywhere at an affordable price.

Missah, M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++ $30

Dr. Jart (an original user of BB cream) Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 PA++ $34

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream $8

J’aime Paris

19 Sep

I just wanted to share a couple of my favorite pictures from Paris.  Can I say that I am now obsessed and can’t wait to go back.  Everyone says Parisians are rude, but I embraced the culture and language and found that the Parisians where just the nicest  and  most hospitable people.  I had the best time with my dear friend Kelly exploring the city.
